The mansion from former musical drama series Empire has a new owner 12 years after going up for sale.
According to Chicago Business, the mansion, located in the Barrington Hills area about 40 miles northwest of Chicago, was sold on April 25 for $6.5 million. The price is a whopping 41 percent deduction from the original asking price of $15.9 million when the mansion first went on sale in June 2013.
In 2019, the price was trimmed to $9.5 million, per Mansion Global, due to low demand.
“Every detail was created from the finest materials to create the feel of luxury in each and every room,” the home’s listing says.
The mansion served as the residence of fictional Empire protagonist Lucious Lyon, played by Terrence Howard, husband Cookie Lyon (Taraji P. Henson) and their sons, Jamal (Jussie Smollett), Andre (Trai Byers), and Hakeem (Bryshere Y. Gray).
Empire wrapped in 2020 after six seasons.
Despite its price slash, the mansion was reportedly the ninth-highest price of all Chicago homes for sale this year. The lakefront mansion was built in 2008 by Geralyn and Sam Cecola, owners of local strip club, the Admiral Theater.
