A suspect allegedly involved in the “targeted” shooting of Sauce Walka and Sayso P has reportedly died.
On Monday (March 31), the Memphis police notified the public that an arrest warrant would no longer be active for now-deceased suspect Jayden Dandridge, who was to be charged with first-degree murder. A second suspect, 22-year-old Kevin Brown, remains at large. A $6,000 cash reward was offered for Dandridge’s arrest.
The shooting occurred in Memphis, Tennessee, near the FedEx Forum on March 22. During the incident, Sauce Walka, who survived, was struck in the thigh, while his friend, rapper Sayso P, was pronounced dead at the scene. The suspects pulled up to the two victims and got out of their vehicle, according to the police. It was said that the two individuals then fired “without engaging in any conversation” and immediately fled the scene.
“Early indications are that the victims and suspects are known to each other. We understand the public’s concern and reiterate that this was not a random act,” the Memphis Police Department said in a statement. The authorities also stressed that they would be “utilizing downtown camera footage and other technology available to aid in identifying everyone involved.”
Confirming that Sauce Walka, real name Albert Mondane, was hospitalized and in recovery was his father, Albert Walker, also known as ‘Poppa Sauce.’ “Had it not been for God, my son would’ve been dead,” he told KHOU.
